Hi folks Boppa here

Just thought I would tell you a little about my trip to the US of A.

On arriving in Los Angeles we hired a small van and headed straight to Las Vegas.  There were five of us, myself, my wife my son & his partner and my grandson. After being lost for about an hour and a half we found our way out of LA, and arrived in Las Vegas where, after being lost for over two hours we finally found our motel.

We stayed in Las Vegas for four days and had a ball, saw some shows and the city, met an Elvis impersonator went to SEMA and did some shopping.

When we left we went to the Hoover dam and (after a little shopping at a place called Williams), the Grand canyon (what an awesome sight). And then back to L.A.

Next day saw us at the NHRA drag racing finals at Pomona (mind blowing noise, speed and action).

The next two days were taken up by a visit to Disneyland and, let me tell you that you need at least a week to do this magical place justice.

After the obligatory visit to Universal Studios, The Hollywood tours and general sight-seeing we flew out to Nashville where we visited Opryland , the Opry Mills factory outlets, and the best thing of all …A show at the original
       GRAND OL-OPRY
      the Ryman Auditorium
It was fantastic … Some of the artists we saw were Josh Turner, Porter Wagoner, Terry Clark, Little Jimmy Dickens, Jeannie Seely, The Whites, Jim Ed Brown, Osborne Brothers  among others there was a total of 20 performers

Next day we drove to Memphis and I was just forced to go to Gracelands.

Gracelands itself was good but unfortunately the area around Gracelands needs some attention.

After a visit to a Hooters Restaurant we got caught between two Tornadoes and a lot of real wild weather, after which ,the temperature plummeted to about 7 degrees.

On the way back to Nashville we took all the backroads, visited Shilo (Civil War Memorial Battlefield), Fayetteville (Davy Crocket country), Lynchburg (Jack Daniels Distillery), Murfreesborough (1994 F 5 Tornado).  Naturally I called in to as many Harley Davidson dealers as I could, to swap T-shirts.

We called through Denver on the way back to L.A. and had a days rest before we came back home.

All in all we had a great time, the people we met were fantastic and made the trip that much more enjoyable especially in Tennessee. We’d go back in a flash, except I maxed out my credit card … oh well, I guess I’ll have to start saving again.
