Steve Fraser{(Workaholic) (I’ve just got to jot down a few notes right?  Damn! Where does the time go?)}
Well I play lead/rhythm guitar, some keyboard/piano, some clarinet, sing lead and harmony vocals, do the ironing, wash up, vacuum, fix the car, mow, do the shopping, etc….  Oh, I see, just for Homestead!
Well, I’ve been playing guitar since I was nine.  Some of the many good performances include Gold Coast Beach Party and heaps of gigs around S/E Queensland with some schoolmates Robbie Rosenlund (later of Wickety Wak), his brother Jim and Laurie Stone (later bass player with Railroad Gin).   After a geographical move it became too difficult logistically to commute from Sydney and the band ceased.  Fortunately an all expenses paid tour of Australia, (courtesy of my time with the RAAF), gave me a chance to ply my trade as a musician over a lot of the country with some fine muso’s.  I have done a lot of solo guitar and vocal gigs and this has developed my abilities of keeping the crowd entertained and interested in the music.  Close harmony vocals are my musical obsession and Homestead has some good vocalists which allows me to indulge my preoccupation.

 Bill Turgeon  {(Ideas Man) (A legend in his own lunch box?  Hardly!)}
Drums, percussion and vocals are where I do my thing.  I’m a musician who loves his craft and who has been practicing it for over forty years. (Practice makes perfect!)  I’ve had the great honor of working with a lot of fine people over the years.  I can say that I have been involved musically with radio, TV, recording and touring Australia, SE Asia, Japan and USA over a lot of those years.  Well-made music is my passion!!  Homestead members’ variety of taste and styles in music allows me to utilize my skills in the many genres.

 Shayne Bleakley  {(Happy-go-lucky guy)  (Bass Player, rhythm guitarist, harmonica player, lead and harmony vocalist)}
Country Rock is my preferred music but I’ll play anything people can enjoy.  I’ve played every thing from Western Music through Rock n’ roll to Blues and even (gulp) Old time!  From my first gigs in 1973, I’ve been happy to double on guitar and bass in various bands in S/E Queensland.  From 1981 to 1986, I worked in the resident band at Tangalooma Island Resort, (an enjoyable experience and a great laid-back scene).  Homestead has allowed me to get back into music after a break away from the scene.  Giving the people what they want is my forte!  Occasionally, this might include me making a fool of myself for a few laughs, but the music is what counts and there I’m all business.

 Norm Smith {(Accident-prone maladroit)  (Guitar/synth, lead and harmony vocalist) (roadie) (soundguy) (general dogsbody)}
I’m generally known for various faux pas, gaffes and foot-in-mouth accidents.  For some reason, every so often, Spooner raises his “hugly ead”.  Fortunately I have had forty or so year’s experience in the music/performance phase and such boo-boos no longer embarrass me.  (Other branch members seem to groan a lot though!).  I’ve been fortunate enough to survive many more gigs than I logically should have in S/E Queensland and have also survived TV, radio and recording sessions without causing utter chaos.  Backing and support for some of the industry big names have kept me on tenterhooks trying to avert disaster.  My chief joy is to make it through the night with no major disasters while making the great music I love.  So far at Homestead, I’ve been relatively successful disaster-wise, but it has been a big ask!!!
