From the Cole Family
Bob & Fiona Cole have
spent the past twenty-something years teaching at primary schools in far north,
central and southern parts of Queensland. Music has always played a big part in
both of our lives, both at work and at play.
Bob learned to play guitar
at Teachers College in Newcastle, NSW, and financed most of his 'student' days
singing and playing in pubs and restaurants in Newcastle. He has since enjoyed
involvement in country music clubs in Mackay, Moranbah and now here at
Homestead. There have been a few festival awards along the way but the real
enjoyment has come from the friends that have been made along the way. Fiona's
singing career has been mostly choral. She toured Indonesia during her high
school years with Joint Sounds, a multicultural choir. She even made a few
bucks singing with the Newcastle/New Orleans Jazz Band.

Younger members of the family are maturing fast and going from strength to strength. Here's Michael at the 2009 Gympie Muster Talent Quest, and Jenny at a recent Homestead concert
Living some distance away,
we only sometimes make it to practice nights.
This means that we tend to throw music at 'the band' at the last minute at most
concerts and hope that they either know it or can somehow make it work - and
month after month they do! It is such a pleasure to get together with
these guys once a month to make a bit of music. Our family is very proud
to be part of Homestead.
